One Girls Closet

A Personal Note from One Girl

As we wrap up 2008, lets focus on a few positives:

  • We’ve elected a new president. (Perhaps not a positive for some, but I think most will agree that we’re long overdue for someone new in the White House)
  • Gasoline is affordable again
  • It’s almost Christmas time and that means celebrating what’s most important in our lives - Family!
  • It’s snowing right now.

Oh ok, the last one probably only applies to me. I love watching the snow as it covers everything in pure white. I believe that snow is one of the greatest gifts from Mother Nature. To me, it symbolizes fresh new beginnings and that anything is possible. It’s heaven’s blanket, wrapping us with comfort and hope.

And my hope for you is that you have a blessed holiday season and a bright new year.

See you in ‘09!

Holiday Shop Til You Drop Event Update:

December 6th was our first annual Shop til You Drop vendor fair and we were met with quite a few challenges including illness, family emergencies (praying for you), bad weather and let’s not even mention the economy!

We chose a small venue for our first event and to summarize:

  • 18 vendors participate
  • 34 pounds of food donations were received
  • 30+ sales were made
  • 2 lucky individuals will be enjoying a relaxing massage
  • Thanks to one of the vendors, we were able to offer a consolation drawing for $32 worth of spa products

For details, and a list of the winners, visit the Event page at onegirlscloset.com.

Planning for the next event will begin in January. This event will be a breast cancer fundraiser with the theme “Passionately Pink for the Cure”. This event will be sponsored by Minnesota Moms in Business and we will be coordinating this event through Susan G. Komen. Information will be posted on www.mnmomsinbusiness.com as it becomes available. If you would like to be on the mailing list for this event, email info@mnmomsinbusiness and we’ll keep you updated!

I’ve chosen this fundraiser because it’s a cause that has affected most of us in one way or another. Both my cousin and aunt are breast cancer survivors and I personally had a breast cancer scare in 2006.

I hope you’ll join me supporting this worthwhile cause!
